Naira to USDT: Compare the Net Amount, Not Just the Headline Rate
To compare selling USDT, hold the amount and time constant and calculate the net naira after charges that are not already included. For buying USDT, hold the total NGN budget constant instead. Bank-dollar rates and cash-dollar quotes are context, not executable USDT offers. The calculator below uses your inputs and illustrative numbers; it does not fetch live rates or calculate tax.

USDT to NGN net sale calculator
Illustrative inputs only. No live rates, tax calculation or provider recommendation. Enter only extra charges not already included in your quote. USDT charges are deducted before conversion; the percentage is applied to the converted NGN amount.
If a fee uses another basis, this formula does not apply. The calculation stays in your browser and does not submit your figures.
Selling and buying use different comparisons
When selling, start with the same USDT amount and compare net NGN. When buying, start with the same all-in naira budget and compare the USDT actually delivered. Mixing these directions can reverse which offer looks better.
The quoted rate already reflects its own price difference from another market. Do not subtract a separate spread again unless it is a separately billed charge. Write down the quote time, order range and method: a price outside your order limit is not an available offer for your comparison.
A higher headline rate can pay less
Illustrative sale A: 100 USDT × NGN 1,400, less 0.5% and NGN 100, gives NGN 139,200. Illustrative sale B: 100 USDT × NGN 1,395, less NGN 100 with no extra percentage fee, gives NGN 139,400. B pays NGN 200 more in this particular scenario.
Counterexample: if A’s 0.5% was already included in its quote, subtracting it again would be wrong. At NGN 139,900 net, A would instead pay NGN 500 more than B. The correct comparison depends on how the quoted fee is defined.
Buying with a fixed budget
If a separately charged percentage fee is applied on top of the converted NGN principal, principal = (total budget − fixed NGN charge) ÷ (1 + fee rate). Divide that principal by NGN per USDT, then subtract any separately charged USDT withdrawal amount.
A provider may use a different fee base or deduct from the asset instead. Use its actual breakdown; the sell calculator below is not a universal buy calculator. It does not include tax or slippage beyond what you enter.
What to do when a figure is missing
Keep the comparison incomplete rather than assume a zero charge. Ask for the final preview showing the payable or receivable amount. An indicative converter and a completed executable quote answer different questions. Recheck the route when the quote expires.
