How to Sell USDT in Nigeria: Eligibility, Net Naira and Payment Checks

Before selling USDT for naira, confirm that the service accepts your residence, supports your account and offers your payment method. Then compare the net NGN for the same USDT amount. A quoted rate, payment screenshot or merchant advertisement is not proof of a completed sale. This guide explains the checks without assuming that a particular platform is available to you.

Short answer: Before selling USDT for naira, confirm that the service accepts your residence, supports your account and offers your payment method. Then compare the net NGN for the same USDT amount. A quoted rate, payment screenshot or merchant advertisement is not proof of a completed sale. This guide explains the checks without assuming that a particular platform is available to you.

Compare the same sale, at the same time

For a sale, use the rate at which the counterparty buys your USDT. A screen labelled Buy may instead describe what you are buying; interfaces differ. Read the asset, direction, limits and amount on the confirmation screen.

Illustrative example, not a live quote: 100 USDT at NGN 1,400 per USDT gives NGN 140,000 before extra charges. A separately charged 0.5% of that amount is NGN 700. With a further NGN 100 charge, the net is NGN 139,200. If the quote already includes the percentage charge, do not deduct it again.

A payment notification is one piece of evidence

Check your own official bank or wallet record, the amount, reference and payer identity according to the service’s rules. An email, screenshot or credit alert alone is insufficient to establish the account state. Pending and available are not interchangeable labels.

If the records disagree, preserve the order and transaction references and use the official dispute process. Do not send a second payment merely because someone presses you, and do not release assets based only on a screenshot. Do not falsify or hide the purpose of a bank transfer; follow the bank and platform requirements.

Check the route before sending assets

Confirm the asset and network at both ends, any minimum amount, deposit restrictions and the displayed withdrawal charge. A token symbol alone does not confirm network compatibility. A small test, where permitted, can reduce the amount exposed to an address error; it does not prove the platform’s wider safety or continuing availability.

An advertised zero trading fee may coexist with a different executable rate or a network charge. Use the calculator in the rate guide and keep each extra charge in its original currency.

Keep a usable record

Save the order reference, timestamps and timezone, USDT amount, NGN proceeds, charges and supporting platform statement in your own records. Never send identity documents, passwords or recovery phrases to this website. Tax treatment is outside the calculator; consult the record guide before treating net proceeds as profit.

Check the exact provider entity, activity and date in the SEC circular. ARIP Approval-in-Principle is conditional admission and is not a final licence. This page does not establish that a named service may accept or solicit a Nigerian resident.

Regulator: Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The July 2026 SEC circular names KuCoin Nigeria and GIGX; the August circular adds other entities. A short directory page should not be presented as an exhaustive current list. Absence of an entry alone is not a complete legal assessment.

Your next check

Use the source date and the conditions for your own task. Missing evidence stays unknown; it is not a zero fee or a permission to register.

Referral eligibility checked 9 September 2026: Binance’s official referral terms exclude Nigerian residents or Nigerian nationals as referrers and referred applicants. This concerns referral participation, not a blanket account-access finding. OKX registration links remain paused pending verification of Nigerian eligibility and regional affiliate terms.
